Military writer, Major General V.B. Bronevsky (1784–1835) dedicated his work to the Second Archipelago Expedition of 1805–1835 under the command of Admiral D.N. Senyavin, the purpose of which was to strengthen the bases of the Russian fleet on the Ionian Islands during wars of the Third and Fourth anti-French coalitions and the Russian-Turkish War of 1806–1812. This work is considered to this day the most reliable source for studying the history of Senyavin’s expedition.
