Napoleon, as a rule, is placed on a par with such military geniuses as Alexander the Great and Julius Caesar. But, on the other hand, he is often called the forerunner of the Antichrist and compared to Adolf Hitler. So what motivated this man, who was responsible for more than ten wars named after him and which claimed many human lives? What did these wars represent: did they destroy the old feudal world and serve the cause of building a new Europe, or simply satisfy the insatiable ambition and thirst for power of a man who was first called the “little corporal” Buonaparte, then General Bonaparte and, finally, Emperor Napoleon I?
