The Angir Council has captured the black soul stone and is now vigilantly monitoring the cursed artifact hidden in the depths of the shimmering Silver City. Against the backdrop of these fateful events, the archangel Tyrael is trying to get used to his new role as the Aspect of Wisdom. Having become mortal, he feels more out of place among his fellow angels than ever before and doubts that he is up to his new assignment. Trying to find confidence in himself, Tyrael realizes the dark influence of the black soul stone on his home. Where previously there was harmony of light and sound, growing contradictions threaten to envelop the whole world in darkness. Having called powerful people from all over Sanctuary, Tyrael revives the ancient order of the Horadrim and entrusts him with an impossible task: to steal the black soul stone from the very heart of Heaven. This burden was placed on the shoulders of five heroes: Jacob of Staalbrick, formerly the embodiment of Justice and keeper of the angelic blade of El'druin; Shanar, sorceresses with incredible powers; Mikulov, a devout but agile monk; Jinvir, a fearless, battle-hardened female barbarian; and Zela, the mysterious necromancer.
