This book is written for non-believers who know little about Christian life, and for believers who are new to monastic life (if there are any). These are like pictures of monastic life, in which the author tried - often with humor, always with love - to outline the large “active” and “contemplative” Orders, revealing little-known features of the true face of each Order and the colors of its spiritual landscape. Numerous illustrations in a modern style recall the cheerful spontaneity of vintage screensavers. Contrary to what one might suppose, general works on the Orders are rare in the vast Catholic literature, and they cannot be said to generally breathe gaiety. The Salt of the Earth is probably the first book of its kind; Without deviating in any way from orthodoxy, with its light tone it gives some idea of the deep joy that is one of the most amazing properties of the monastic rank.
