In the final volume of the Complete Works of E.S. Gardner included a series of stories in which the hero was Paul Pry, “a noble adventurer and professional seeker of fortune.” Paul Pry earns money not for the sake of money itself, but out of the love of a beautiful life. He goes on daring and deadly raids, taking away money acquired by criminal means.
