Ensign Andrew Dahl was assigned to the ship Intrepid, the flagship of the Universal Union since 2456. This is a prestigious position, and Andrew is glad that he will have to work in the xenobiology laboratory. Life is good... until Andrew begins to understand that, firstly, every Remote Mission involves a lethal encounter with some aliens; secondly, the ship’s captain, the chief scientific officer, and the cute Lieutenant Kerensky always survive these collisions; thirdly, at least one of the minor crew members dies. Not surprisingly, most of the energy among the crew is spent on avoiding, by any means, being assigned to a Remote Mission. Andrew suddenly finds information about what "Fearless" really is, which can allow them to escape.

Incredibly funny, scary, absurd, full of dramatic twists, a book about fate, predestination, free will, creativity and responsibility . Black humor that turns into optimism, absurdity that turns into logic, the realm of militant postmodernity that turns into homage to the very gold standard of SF. The novel by the American writer John Scalzi “Redshirts” received the Hugo and Locus awards in the category “best novel.”

The text of the book was translated from the original language using an artificial intelligence program. For the most part, the translation of the text is of very high quality, but in some cases, due to the imperfection of the technology, there may be incorrect phrase translations in the text, as well as single words and expressions may not be translated.
