Gerard de Nerval is a cult French author of the 19th century; his works are characterized by sensual truthfulness and vivid eroticism. Perhaps Nerval became the last witness to the end of that Magnificent Century, in which eastern harems, closed forever in the early years of the twentieth century, still existed. It is not surprising that this passionate traveler devoted his book to the daily life of harems and the mysteries of beautiful slave girls, as well as to the morals and customs of the East. His work is of particular value due to the fact that the author, according to him, examined and described places only after sufficient I got to know them through all the books and memoirs available at that time.

The text of the book was translated from the original language using an artificial intelligence program.
