Professor of history at the Oriental Institute of the University of Chicago, Albert Olmsted, having devoted his life to the study of the ancient Near East, has compiled previously unknown material about the life, times and thinking of the Persians into a coherent narrative. It was Persia that for two centuries - from the extension of power to Greece by King Cyrus the Great and to the burning of Persipolis, the capital of the kingdom, by Alexander the Great - occupied the enviable position of dictator of history. In his book, the author shows how the science, literature, language and myths of the ancients grew out of a mixture of many cultures and contributed to the formation of a future civilization.

Книга "Історія Перської імперії" професора Альберта Олмстеда є справжнім відкриттям для всіх, хто цікавиться історією стародавнього Близького Сходу. Автор вдало зібрав та систематизував раніше невідомі матеріали, які дозволяють читачеві зануритися в епоху, коли Персія була однією з найвпливовіших імперій світу. Його розповідь про життя та мислення персів, а також про культурні досягнення цього народу, захоплює з перших сторінок. Особливо вражає, як Олмстед показує, як змішання різних культур сприяло розвитку науки, літератури та міфології. Хоча в тексті можуть зустрічатися незначні неточності через використання штучного інтелекту для перекладу, це не зменшує загального враження від книги. Я б рекомендував цю працю всім, хто прагне глибше зрозуміти історію та культуру Персії, адже вона не лише інформативна, але й надзвичайно цікава!
