Russian writer Gleb Iosifovich Pakulov was born in 1930 in the village of Bussevskaya, Amur Region, in the family of a Cossack centurion. He served in the navy, graduated from the Novosibirsk art studio and Kiev University, worked as a decorative artist in the theater, and as a geophysicist in the geological parties of Siberia. According to critics, the writer was subject to a variety of genres, which allowed him to create a number of worthy works. Pakulov is a master of adventure prose, the heroes of his stories - geologists, fishermen, villagers - are distinguished by complex, contradictory characters, but, perhaps, the main character of his stories is the harsh taiga, before which everyone is equal. The book also includes the historical novel "Barbarians" , telling about the life and everyday life of the Scythian tribes.
