The son of a noble conquistador and an Aztec beauty, who inherited a substantial estate, leads the idle life of a true caballero. After a long (and, undoubtedly, pleasant!) search for candidates for his wife, he chose a girl from a worthy Spanish family. On the eve of the wedding, the main character receives a call from a distant relative of his mother, an old and wise priest of the Aztec gods. At a secret meeting, he asks the young man to marry a representative of his tribe in order to contribute to the continuation of the ancient race of local rulers. Such a development of events will not only be beneficial for the native inhabitants, but will also help avoid the tragedy of the prophetic vision revealed to the priest: from the shores of constantly warring Europe, the famous bloody robber, the “Wolf of Aragon”, is going on a predatory raid on the lands of the New World...
