The story "The Charity Fair" was written in 1896 as one of the means to raise money for the University of Edinburgh, the alma mother of Arthur Conan Doyle. This piece was first published in the university student magazine THE STUDENT, and in 1934 it was republished by Atheneum Press. Once again the story was published in 1947 by the Baker Street Irregulars in pamphlet form.
