The story "The Charity Fair" was written in 1896 as one of the means to raise money for the University of Edinburgh, the alma mother of Arthur Conan Doyle. This piece was first published in the university student magazine THE STUDENT, and in 1934 it was republished by Atheneum Press. Once again the story was published in 1947 by the Baker Street Irregulars in pamphlet form.

The text of the book was translated from the original language using an artificial intelligence program. For the most part, the translation of the text is of very high quality, but in some cases, due to the imperfection of the technology, there may be incorrect phrase translations in the text, as well as single words and expressions may not be translated.
