The novel by A. Boussenard (1847–1910) “The Band of Arsonists, or the Bandits of Orgers,” based on the case of the Orgers arsonists, which took place in France at the end of the 18th century, is a fascinating story in which a love affair, a confrontation between two brothers, Viscount de Montville and the bandit leader, unfold against the backdrop of dramatic events taking place in the province of Beauce. The novel was published as a separate book in France only in 1997, on the 150th anniversary of the author’s birth, and was published for the first time in Russian.
