Andrei Efimovich Zarin (1862–1929) is known to Russian readers for his historical works. The collection includes two novels by the writer: “The Northern Hero” - about the events that took place in 1702 during the Russian-Swedish war, and “The Living Dead” - dedicated to the reign of Emperor Paul I. They recreate the life of Russia in the 18th century.
