The action of the novels "Myra" and "Myron", written in the genre of satirical comedy, takes place in Hollywood at the height of the crisis experienced by the "dream factory" due to the onset of television and the general economic downturn in the country. Passionately devoted to the ideals of the “golden age” of American cinema, the main character Myra Breckinridge seeks to implement her plan to save Hollywood, and with it, humanity in general, which will perish if it does not abandon false standards of morality and decency. Vidal, who knows Hollywood well, where he successfully collaborated as a screenwriter and even tried himself as an actor, in his characteristic ironic manner assesses the events taking place in the USA in the 1960s and 1970s, without denying himself and his readers the pleasure of laughing at modern mores of American society.
