In a luxurious mansion on the shores of Lake Michigan, a tragedy unfolded: one of Judge Dennett’s daughters, twenty-five-year-old Mia, disappeared. A little reserved, but very sweet girl. Friends and colleagues at the school where Mia teaches art have no idea where she is. Detective Gabe Hoffman makes every effort to find the girl, and soon comes to the conclusion that she has been kidnapped. However, someone disrupted the plans of the criminals, and therefore the terms of the ransom remain unknown. An astute detective notices James Dennett's inappropriate cold-bloodedness - the authoritative judge is more concerned about the hype around his name than about the fate of his daughter. This leads Hoffman to believe that he was involved in the kidnapping. Whether this is really so, only Mia herself knows, but even after the Dennetts’ daughter was discovered in an abandoned forest hut, the investigation did not move forward. Severe amnesia erased from Mia’s memory the events of that terrible night when she did not return home...
