The K'iche's epic Popol Vuh (translated as "Book of the People") is one of the few surviving works of literature from the peoples of ancient America. The "Genealogy of the Lords of Totonicapan" that accompanies this translation of the Popol Vuh is an important a historical document from the mid-16th century, which, like the Book of the People, tells the story of the origins and history of the Quiche.

The text of the book was translated from the original language using an artificial intelligence program. For the most part, the translation of the text is of very high quality, but in some cases, due to the imperfection of the technology, there may be incorrect phrase translations in the text, as well as single words and expressions may not be translated.
