Fifteen-year-old Nia barely manages to avoid confrontations with the Duke's bloodhounds. She is wanted, but risks everything to protect every Taker she finds, to stop the Duke from using them in terrible experiments. But determination is not enough to protect them, and Nia soon realizes that they can only be saved by escaping from Geweg. Unfortunately, the Duke's best bloodhound thinks otherwise. Nia finds herself captured in a place she didn't want to be, forced to trust people she would never have thought to trust. It's not just the lives of the people of Geweg that are at stake, and the more she learns about the Duke's plan, the more she realizes how important she is to his victory.
