“The book “Don't Be Shy” tells the story of post-Soviet pop music through 169 hits that defined their time. Each chapter is dedicated to one song. All chapters are organized in the same way: an editorial description of the song, explaining the context of its appearance and its phenomenon, and memories of its creators and/or performers in the form of a monologue or interview. The songs are organized by year. At the same time, you can, of course, read the book from anywhere. However, it seems to us that if you read the chapters in a row, you can discover a kind of conceptual arc of the book: several of its cross-cutting characters, ideas and plots...”

Вражаюча подорож у світ пострадянської поп-музики!
Книга «Не треба соромитися» стала для мене справжнім відкриттям. Автори вдало зібрали 169 пісень, які не лише стали хітами, але й відобразили дух часу, в якому вони були створені. Кожен розділ пропонує глибокий аналіз пісні, її контексту та значення, що дозволяє читачеві краще зрозуміти, чому саме ці хіти стали такими популярними. Спогади творців та виконавців додають особливого шарму, адже ми можемо почути їхні емоції та переживання, пов'язані з написанням і виконанням пісень. Хоча я помітила деякі недоліки в перекладі, загалом текст читається легко і цікаво. Ця книга стане чудовим доповненням до бібліотеки кожного, хто цікавиться музикою та культурою пострадянського простору. Рекомендую всім, хто хоче зануритися в історію музики, яка формувала наше суспільство протягом трьох десятиліть!
