“The book “Don't Be Shy” tells the story of post-Soviet pop music through 169 hits that defined their time. Each chapter is dedicated to one song. All chapters are organized in the same way: an editorial description of the song, explaining the context of its appearance and its phenomenon, and memories of its creators and/or performers in the form of a monologue or interview. The songs are organized by year. At the same time, you can, of course, read the book from anywhere. However, it seems to us that if you read the chapters in a row, you can discover a kind of conceptual arc of the book: several of its cross-cutting characters, ideas and plots...”
