Former Resistance member Bert Main receives a letter from one of his group members, Anna Dale, asking for help. When he arrives in France, he does not find Anna at the address indicated in the letter. Her neighbor on the landing tells him that Anna has not been home for almost three weeks. Arriving at one of the bars where his former front-line friends always gathered, he learns from the bartender that they have stopped going to this bar for about two weeks. In the same bar, Bert meets a private detective who is looking for his missing friends at the request of one of the Swiss banks. The book was published under the title: “Ruthless.”
