As in the previous novels “Businessmen” and “Rainy Season”, Ilya Shtemler on the pages of the new book returns to the events of the turn of the 90s of the last century... In a communal apartment on the Petrograd side, fate brought two lonely pensioners together. Fleeing from the bloody inter-ethnic conflict in Transcaucasia, the caretaker of the music school Samvel Akopyan and the old-timer of Nyuma’s apartment - Naum Bershadsky - a former freight forwarder at the Trade Port. The life of the elderly neighbors did not promise joys if a stray “smart” little dog had not appeared in the apartment named Tochka, with whom the main plots were unexpectedly connected twists and turns of the novel. Relationships between fathers and children, judgments and disputes on sensitive “national” topics that so excited the disintegrated country, trends in the socio-political life of the early nineties, which were the seed from which large-scale corruption sprouted - the cancer of our time... With all the mutual misunderstandings and personal grievances and eternal lack of money, the eccentric characters of the novel are close to each other and do not lose their sense of humor.
