"Underground Man" is a novel by Fyodor Dostoevsky, in which the author explores the psychological internal conflict of an authentic personality and external social norms. The main character - an underground man - feels alienated from the surrounding world and his own unsuitability for life in society. He feels contempt for society, but at the same time he cannot cope with his own complexes and inner pain. This book leaves behind unsettling thoughts about the nature of human loneliness and alienation from the rest of the world.
