As the kingdom of Camelot basks in complacency, the ambitious mad sadist known as Merodach advances with his army of notorious scoundrels, recruiting new men on pain of death and threatening rebellion. Eighteen-year-old Princess Gabriella is the only one who understands the gravity of the approaching danger, but she is unable to convince her father or her brave commoner husband, Darrick. Having lost almost all of her loved ones, Gabriella sets out on one last, desperate journey. Her plan is to face the madman Merodach and defeat him before his army destroys everything she loves. Alone and on foot, she will have to cross the haunted, magical wasteland known as the Storm, where she will be forced to confront mutant animals, capricious magical creatures and even the walking dead. Eventually, wounded and hopeless, Gabriella will face her nemesis and find out his final, terrible secret: he is not alone, and the forces with which he has formed an alliance are far more powerful than anyone could have imagined.
