Грейс, головна героїня, є втіленням багатьох молодих жінок, які намагаються знайти своє місце в світі, дотримуючись правил і планів, які самі ж собі встановили. Автор вдало передає її внутрішні переживання, сумніви та страхи, що робить її образ дуже близьким і зрозумілим. Зустріч з Карсоном стає для Грейс справжнім переворотом у сприйнятті життя, адже він відкриває їй нові горизонти і вчить, що не все в житті можна спланувати. Книга сповнена емоцій, іронії та мудрості, що робить її не лише розважальною, але й повчальною.
