The name of Vasily Bocharnikov, a prose writer from Kostroma, has long been known to a wide range of readers thanks to numerous publications in periodicals. The writer’s new book consists of stories and lyrical short stories that reveal the quiet charm of his native nature, the discreet beauty of the Russian North. The stories “Moose with Bells” and “The Path to Home” turn us to the problems of the modern village. How did it happen that a peasant, a farmer, who at all times was the bearer of the moral ideal of the nation, leaves the village? This question is one of the most important for V. Bocharnikov; he seeks an answer to it in his works.
