Nikolai Berdyaev is a religious philosopher of the twentieth century, who was called the philosopher of freedom. The main theme of his works is freedom of creativity and spirit. He fought for freedom and was forced to admit that this struggle often led him to loneliness and conflict with the world around him. Berdyaev recalled: “There were too many events for a philosopher: I was in prison four times, twice in the old regime and twice in the new, was exiled to the north for three years, had a trial that threatened me with eternal settlement in Siberia, was expelled from my homeland and will probably end my life in exile.” He died at his desk in his home in Clamart, a suburb of Paris, of a broken heart. His books were translated into many languages, and only in his homeland the name of the famous philosopher and thinker was passed over in silence for many decades...
