The plot of the book is an absolutely incredible story. One student accidentally finds an ancient manuscript in the library, which contains a ritual that grants immortality to a person. Later, he finds a note in the newspaper that describes an active monastery existing in the state of Arizona, the description of which vividly reminds him of the surroundings described in the manuscript. He and three other friends go there in the hope of gaining immortality. According to the rules of the ritual, one of them must commit suicide, and the other must be killed, but the other two will get what they want.

This plot allows the author to create a psychologically intense narrative in which each of the characters is revealed to the most hidden depths of their life. The novel is full of explicit sexual and various everyday scenes. The work provides a subtle analysis of the inner life of characters standing on the path of self-discovery.
