Welcome to the tyrannical city of Jewel, where impatience is a sin and insolence is a crime. Goldie Roth has lived in Jewel all her life. Like every child in the city, she wears a silver guard chain and must obey the terrible Blessed Guardians. She has never done anything on her own and is forbidden to appear on the streets without chains until Separation Day. After Separation Day is canceled, Goldie, who has always been impatient and defiant, runs away, risking not only her life, but the lives of all those she left behind. In the ensuing chaos, she finds herself in the Dante Museum, where she meets a boy named Toadspit and learns sinister secrets. Only the cunning mind of a thief can understand the strange moving rooms of the Museum. Luckily, Goldie has a talent for stealing. Which is even more appropriate, since the head of the Guardians has his own plans for the Museum. Plans that threaten the lives of everyone Goldie loves. And it takes a daring thief to stop them. The Museum of Thieves is a thrilling tale of fate and danger, and of a brave girl who was never allowed to grow up. Until recently. This is an amateur translation of a book by the wonderful Australian writer Lian Tanner. In Russia, unfortunately, a series of these magnificent books has not been published, but my friend and I think that this is a big omission. So we translated these books so that people can get acquainted with this exciting story.
