“Sometimes I want unbearably...” is the second novel by the author, who became widely known after “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest,” one of the most brilliant and original works of American literature of the 60s. In the novel, the author gives a broad panorama of the life of the North the western province of modern America, so little known and at the same time proving extremely close in spirit to the Russian reader. The fascinating story of a family with truly biblical characters forms the main plot of the story. A poignant love drama plays out before the reader, confrontation between relatives flares up, a serious conflict breaks out between townspeople, psychological tension grows as we approach the paradoxical ending, in which each of the main characters gains or loses, seems not exactly what he is willing to lose or gain.

Warning! The text presented in this electronic edition, apparently, has undergone some superficial editing (correction of grammatical and lexical errors), and therefore it is not absolutely identical to the source text (Amphora publishing house, St. Petersburg, 2004).

The text of the book was translated from the original language using an artificial intelligence program. For the most part, the translation of the text is of very high quality, but in some cases, due to the imperfection of the technology, there may be incorrect phrase translations in the text, as well as single words and expressions may not be translated.
