Øystein Lønn (b. 1936 in Kristiansand) is a renowned Norwegian writer. The first collection of short stories, “Procession” (1966), did not attract much attention. The situation changed after the release of the collection “The Trape Method” (1993), for which the writer received the Critics’ Prize and the Brahe Prize. For the collection “What Should We Do Today?” (1995) the writer was awarded the Scandinavian Council Prize. The novel “The Obligatory Rituals of Maren Gripe” (1999) is the fifteenth book by E. Lönn. His works have been translated into German, English, Swedish, and Danish. Published in Russian for the first time.
