The ancient Greek philosopher Socrates, like Confucius, did not leave his works. But his students, Plato and Xenophon, conveyed to us the philosophical views of Socrates in the form of dialogues and short stories. Thanks to this, we know what Socrates taught, what his main life values were, what problems of existence occupied him. For the first time, the statements of a wise philosopher are collected in one collection, from whom even today the reader has a lot to learn. True, sometimes in Plato’s texts Socrates says one thing, and in Xenophon’s texts, on the same issue, something completely different, as if he were contradicting himself. This is caused by the memory and interpretation of the teacher’s thoughts by his equally famous students. But it is all the more interesting to follow Socrates’ chain of thoughts and draw your own conclusions. The collection is logically complemented by biographical notes about the philosopher Diogenes Laertius, who briefly describes the life of Socrates and talks about his tragic death.

The text of the book was translated from the original language using an artificial intelligence program.
