Journalist Evgenia Potapova, returning home late at night, noticed a suicide on the bridge. Before her eyes, a young woman jumps into the water. Soon, Zhenya’s colleague’s friend dies after jumping out of a window. Evgenia persuades her superiors to conduct a journalistic investigation on the topic of “the wave of suicides sweeping St. Petersburg.” For no apparent reason, all over the city, young, successful, wealthy women decide to take their own lives. Work on the report is being carried out in parallel with the investigation into the activities of an unscrupulous gynecologist. The journalist understands perfectly well that this doctor could easily drive his patients to suicide.
