The book of selected works of the Russian writer, critic, journalist Orest Somov (1793–1833) includes novels and short stories, many of which are unknown to the mass reader and have long become a bibliographic rarity. Their themes are extremely diverse, the characters are colorful, and fantasy is often intertwined with depictions of real life. Of great interest are works that reflect the life of the Ukrainian people, features of their national character, creativity, and beliefs. The text of the book was translated from the original language using an artificial intelligence program. For the most part, the translation of the text is of very high quality, but in some cases, due to the imperfection of the technology, there may be incorrect phrase translations in the text, as well as single words and expressions may not be translated.
