The main reason for purchasing the Christie M.1940 tank was primarily the company’s provision of technical assistance, the transfer of all production drawings and the technological process for producing the tank. J. W. Christie also expressed his readiness to come to the USSR for a period of two months for consultations and organization of production. In addition, the company provided our engineer with the opportunity to work at the plant in Rahway (USA). Technical assistance did not apply only to Liberty engines, since they were already produced in the USSR under license under the M-5 brand.
