Humanity is on the verge of another great discovery. A new way of moving in space – “Null-T” – is about to become available to people, and experiments with a new type of energy no longer fit within the laboratory. The distant but still quite developed planet Rainbow was chosen for the experiments, which was able to provide scientists with the necessary supply of energy and materials. The risk was great, but the risk was justified. People were in a hurry. They hurried to step further. And the planet could not stand it. The rainbow went berserk and is preparing to throw off its rider; waves scatter further and further along it from the two poles, leaving nothing living behind. But the Rainbow turned out to be too far away, and not everyone will be able to leave the planet in time. In the midst of the crisis, Leonid Gorbovsky found himself on the planet on the ship "Tariel", giving many a chance to escape, but putting people before a terrible choice - who exactly?
