Boxer Marty Strauss is released from prison and becomes the bodyguard of the mysterious tycoon Joseph Whitehead. An unlucky gambler, Strauss thinks that his bet has finally paid off and now life will go well, but he does not know one thing: the new boss Marty owes all his fortune and power to a game of cards played in Warsaw, destroyed by the Germans, in which he bet own soul. And now he must repay the debt, and the one who came for Whitehead has truly sinister power: he is able to resurrect the dead and will stop at nothing.
