The book by N. Yu. Tyapugina represents a non-trivial attempt to expand the methodological base of traditional historical and literary research. It is devoted to the complex and invariably topical problem of interpreting the works of F. M. Dostoevsky. The author managed to significantly supplement, and sometimes rethink, the content of a number of the writer’s works. N. Yu. Tyapugina masterfully analyzes both artistic texts of the early period (“Mr. Prokharchin”, “Mistress”), and the works of a mature writer. Particular emphasis is placed on the poetics of the novel “The Idiot.” Addressed to undergraduate and graduate philologists, literature teachers, and anyone interested in Russian literature and the works of F. M. Dostoevsky.
