In the summer of 1845, the bodies of two brutally murdered and scalped girls were found in Manhattan. New York was swept by a wave of horror - a maniac nicknamed Johnson-Liver appeared in the city. Edgar Poe, who, as usual, shows an interest in everything mysterious, finds himself drawn into the search for a criminal.

Книга "Маска Червоної смерті" вражає своєю атмосферою та майстерно вибудуваним сюжетом. Автор вдало передає жахливу атмосферу Нью-Йорка 1845 року, коли місто охоплює паніка через жорстокі вбивства. Едгар По, як завжди, виявляє свою геніальність у розслідуванні таємниць, що робить його персонажем, з яким легко ідентифікуватися. Мене вразила глибина психологічного портрету маніяка, а також те, як автор вдало поєднує елементи детективу та містики. Хоча переклад тексту з використанням штучного інтелекту в деяких місцях може бути не зовсім точним, це не заважає загальному враженню від читання. Книга залишає читача в напрузі до самого кінця, а фінал сповнений несподіванок. Рекомендую всім шанувальникам детективів і класичної літератури!
