The novel “The Regent's Daughter” is the second book by A. Dumas from the history of the Regency in France. The hero of the novel, Chevalier Gaston de Chanlay, who joined the conspiracy of the Boston nobles against the French regent Philippe d'Orléans, is in love with the regent's illegitimate daughter. The conspiracy is discovered, the leaders are executed. The Chevalier de Chanleis also dies with them; his beloved survives him only briefly and dies, never forgiving her father for the death of her fiancé. Unexpected and exciting turns of intrigue, a broad historical background, charming French humor, heroism and nobility of the main characters put this work on a par with such famous novels by Dumas as “Queen Margot” and “Countess de Monsoreau.” A. Dumas’ novel “The Regent’s Daughter,” which is similar in content to the novel “The Chevalier d’Harmental,” was first published in Paris in 1845. Illustrations by M. Ryapolov

Роман «Дочка регента» від А.Дюма - це справжня перлина історичної літератури, що переносить читача в епоху Регентства у Франції. Сюжет навколо шевальє Гастона де Шанле та його трагічної любові до позашлюбної дочки регента Філіпа Орлеанського вражає своєю емоційною глибиною та драматургією. Дюма майстерно малює картини інтриг та зрад, показуючи, як політичні амбіції можуть впливати на особисті долі. Хоча текст книги перекладено за допомогою штучного інтелекту, що іноді призводить до незначних неточностей, загальна якість перекладу все ж на високому рівні. Я б рекомендував цю книгу всім, хто любить історичні романи, сповнені пристрасті, зради та емоційних переживань.
