“In the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth” is the third book in the “Tales of Doctor Levit” series. Like the two previous ones - "Restless Heroes" (Gesharim, 2004) and "From Andalusia to New York" (Retro, 2007) - this book is dedicated to the history of the Jews. The author focuses on the Jews of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth - medieval Poland. Events of Jewish history are examined and explained in the context of the history of other peoples and ethnic groups of this region: Poles, Lithuanians, Ukrainians, Russians, Tatars, Turks, Swedes, Cossacks and others.

Автор майстерно поєднує історичні факти з захоплюючими наративами, що дозволяє читачеві глибше зрозуміти контекст життя євреїв у середньовічній Польщі. Я особливо ціную, як автор вміло інтегрує історію євреїв з історією інших народів, що населяли цей регіон, що робить оповідь більш багатогранною та цікавою. Книга не лише інформативна, але й емоційно насичена, що дозволяє читачеві відчути атмосферу того часу. Хоча я помітила деякі недоліки в перекладі, це не зменшує загального враження від читання.
