The new novel “The Enviable Feeling of Vera Stenina” tells the story of female friendship and enmity. Vera, an art critic, single mother, is constantly jealous of her friend Yulka. Yulka is always lucky, and she does not envy anyone, but she could, because Vera has a unique gift - to feel painting in a special way: she talks to portraits, feels the aroma of painted flowers and hears the music played by the artists depicted in the paintings... The novel is multi-layered: the anatomy of envy, the combination of Western European tradition with the Russian mentality, a light detective accent and - in full voice - a hymn to art and beauty.
