Among the historians who lived in the 6th-7th centuries on the territory of the Byzantine Empire, the name of Procopius of Caesarea stands out especially. The native of Caesarea was a true historian, analytically approaching the events of contemporary reality. This edition contains his essay “The War with the Goths”, which makes up books V-VIII of the fundamental work in eight books under the general title “Wars” (books I-IV entitled “War with the Persians” and “War with the Vandals” were published in 1993 by the publishing house "Science") and the treatise "On Buildings". Together, these publications form a complete set of historical works by Procopius.
