Cha Jing (茶經, “tea canon”) is the first ever treatise on tea and tea drinking, created during the Chinese Tang Dynasty (3rd quarter of the 8th century) by the “tea sage” named Lu Yu. Having been brought up in a Buddhist monastery, Lu Yu sees tea as a symbol of harmony and unity of the universe.
