Seite Matsumoto was born in 1907. Having tried many different professions, he began to write only in 1955. Since then, Matsumoto has published dozens of novels, bringing him the love of readers and fame both in Japan and abroad. Matsumoto became the founder of the social detective genre in Japan. In his works, he talks about the vices of Japanese society, about corruption in the highest spheres of power, about the struggle of monopolies and about other social vices of modern Japan. His novels are often based on real events. The book includes one of his most significant novels, “The Desert Land.”
