The seventh and eighth volumes of the Complete Works of St. Ignatius Brianchaninov, which complete this publication, contain several hundred letters from the great ascetic of God to famous figures of the Russian Orthodox Church, as well as to historical figures of our Fatherland, to relatives and friends. Many of the Saint’s letters are being printed for the first time from autographs stored in the country’s archives. The newly published letters will contribute to a significant replenishment of the available information about the life and work of St. Ignatius and will significantly enrich his biography. Our publications are seriously commented by authoritative historians, philologists and archivists. Each corpus of letters is preceded by an extensive introduction, which provides information about the addressees and reveals the nature of their spiritual communication with the saint. The letters of St. Ignatius Brianchaninov belong to the imperishable treasures of Orthodox thought, and their value only increases from century to century.
