The city of Neftekhimik, in which the story of the young author Andrei Kuzechkin takes place, is a collective image of all Russian provincial towns. After a series of tragic events, the main character, the lead singer of the rock band Roman Mendeleev, shows a civic position and gets the opportunity to save himself for a better life. The book is part of the youth series of nominees for the Debut literary award.
