The Tokyo Trial of 1946–1948, which complemented the Nuremberg “trial of peoples” over the main Nazi criminals, put a final, victorious end to the Second World War, which claimed the lives of more than 50 million people. The Tokyo Tribunal condemned the instigators of aggressive wars, the purpose of which was to conquer the world domination, enslavement of peaceful peoples and assertion of the right of the “strong and chosen” not to observe any rules and moral standards in relation to “inferior” races. The International Tribunal in Tokyo over Japanese war criminals who committed heinous crimes against peace and humanity became strong evidence that aggression and terror directed against civilians should not and cannot remain unpunished.
