This book has an interesting history. I once worked at our most important university in the department of history of Russian literature as a laboratory assistant. It was stupid work, not to say difficult, but hectic and varied. And print manuals, and minutes of department meetings, and prepare conferences, and much more. At that time, there were also professors who, when a floppy disk was not inserted into the computer voluntarily, drove it into it with a Dahl dictionary. So sometimes I had to work simply as a “typist.” In the evenings, to get away, I wrote “University Stories,” which in the first version were called “Insanity Stories” and were a genre very similar to the famous stories of Kharms. A few years ago I decided to revisit them to see if anything useful could be learned from them. I began to read those stories about which I had the kindest memories and suddenly discovered that they were very stupid and petty. Out of hundreds of stories, I liked two or three at most, and the rest was all very so-so. Apparently, the petty malice of a graduate student showed through, who thinks that he alone is working for everyone. I began to rewrite them again, gradually posting them on my page on the Internet, and suddenly it all started. I got carried away. The characters acquired new characters and were reshaped. In general, everything now looks the way it looks. Stories continue to be constantly written and added. They will be posted on Tuesdays and Fridays. The reserves of stories are large.
