The originality of D. Ershov's book is due to its content. This is the first popular science publication entirely devoted to Honghuzism (Chinese banditry), which flourished in Manchuria and the Russian Far East at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries. Russian armed forces actively resisted ethnic crime. At various times, such famous personalities as N. Przhevalsky, V. Arsenyev, N. Garin (Mikhailovsky), M. Yankovsky, N. Baikov, A. Denikin were involved in such events. An edition that includes excerpts from original documents of the era, fragments of personal diaries and letters of characters, illustrated with rare photographs, will be of interest to lovers of military history, as well as those wishing to learn more about the history of China and the Russian Far East.

The text of the book was translated from the original language using an artificial intelligence program. For the most part, the translation of the text is of very high quality, but in some cases, due to the imperfection of the technology, there may be incorrect phrase translations in the text, as well as single words and expressions may not be translated.
