The satirical story “Highly Honorable Beggars,” written in 1888, is essentially a dramatic work converted into prose. Defining the idea of his story, Hakob Paronyan says that he created it “out of a desire to show future generations the deplorable existence of intellectuals: our time and the terrible indifference of moneybags to national culture.”
